Typically, once the type of survey is determined, a date, time, and place of survey is selected. A good survey can take several hours to a full day
depending on the survey type, vessel type, size, and age of the vessel. It is expected, but not required, that the person requesting the survey be
present. This can be an educational experience as time can be devoted to familiarization of the vessel systems.

If the survey type requires a visual inspection of the hull or a sea trial, the person requesting the survey is responsible for scheduling and paying for
the haul out or launch of the vessel.

After the survey field inspection, a
complete survey report is prepared with a
separate section on all findings including
color photographs of important items. The
reports are professional, easy to read, well
organized, and are accepted worldwide by
all financial and insurance institutions. In
  addition the
Pre-Purchase Survey Report
is intended to serve as a reference tool for
the buyer. Generally it takes 1-2 days to
  complete the report.
